You should have started training him the moment you got him.

Every moment you spend with a dog (or horse, or cat, or any other animal) does one of two things: it either trains him, or untrains him. In this case, you’ve probably been UN-training your puppy (or more specifically, training him that there are no ramifications for his actions) since day one. Search for a registered trainer at http://www.apdt.com/po/ts/default.aspx.

Training a dog is not particularly expensive – in my area, puppy classes are 9 for two weeks at a quality trainer. However, make sure you pay attention at all of the lessons (appr. once per week) because if the only time your puppy is held to those rules (ie, pee on the newspaper) is at the training classes, he will not obey them in your house.

Good luck and enjoy!!!

Take your Bichon to a Petsmart training class. I’m almost positive you’d be satisfied with it! It is usually around $119. You can read more about it at this website if you’re interested: http://www.training.petsmart.com/

    Best of luck!!!
