Telemarketer hangs up on me when I ask to be put on the do not call list?

Question:

Telemarketer hangs up on me when I ask to be put on the do not call list?

I’ve tried to call back three times, same result. Same guy hanging up on me. What should be my next step?
Lil’ Red-you don’t quite understand. He’s refusing to put me on the do not call list. He’s hanging up before I can get the words out.
I’m not talking about the National list. The National list doesn’t invalidate the law that every company must keep and maintain a do not call list.

Register yourself on theFederal Do Not Call Registry. If you’re already registered , report the telemarketer with as much info as you have.

If you are in the United States then you have many options. One of those options is to go online to the following website and follow the instructions.

    https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx

Well, you wanted to be off their calling list so, they put you off their calling list… Geez i mean leave ‘em alone, don’t you want them to leave you alone? You sound MORE annoying than a telemarketer!!

Just call phone busters and they will put that number & company on their list of people not to call you. Here is a web link for them :

The ‘Do Not Call’ registry works…sometimes.

For the one’s who know they’re calling you illegally, you have to do some detective work, find their business number and see if you can reach the person in charge of the callers. Next step is to get the address and contact the BBB. They have of way of making shady businesses sweat.

Remember if you register with the do not call list, you must re-register every 6 months.

The telemarketer does not put you on the list, You put yourself on the list. The list DOES work, I am on it.

go to the do not call list website (posted in several answers above). Give it a week or two to take effect.

Get their number (which you apparently have if you’ve tried calling them back), and their mailing address. If they do not give you the address, google the phone number, which you can usually but not always find a few hits on the number.

when you find the address, write them a letter to cease contacting you via phone. I found a site that has a template for you to use but I forget what the site is, you can google it though.

    what number is it?

You do not have to register for the National do not call list every 6 months. I have been on it for over a year now and have not had ANY solicitation calls.

  9. Classy Granny says:

Time time span to re-register on the do not call list is 5 years. When I put myself on it, it cut out about 95% of calls, but not all of them.
