Melissa and Carlos Sobrin are the owners of the SeekingSitters, Orlando-North locations. They are the proud parents of 2 young children ages 2 and 6. Melissa, a Florida native, attended school for a degree in Elementary Education. After having her first child, she decided to stay at home for almost 2 years. She then worked for the Early Childhood Learning Center that her daughter attended. She loved being able to teach and, at the same time, sneak a peak at her daughter at play. Carlos grew up in Chicago then Miami. He attended the University of Miami to pursue a degree in Architecture. He has been working in the construction field for over 15 years and loves it. While pregnant with her 2nd child, Melissa received a call from her brother, who lived in Albany, NY, who needed last minute child care for several days. He had nowhere to turn so Melissa flew from Orlando to assist. It was many months later that her brother, tired of working around the sitters’ schedules to plan dates, found SeekingSitters. He was blown away. He called Melissa almost immediately. After speaking with her brother and knowing how difficult it could be to find safe, reliable childcare in their own area, they decided to open a SeekingSitters franchise in Orlando. They sought to help other parents like themselves find a reliable and safe babysitting solution.
