Telemarketers: There have to be better things for an unskilled labor force to do than telemarketing! What are?

5 things you would rather see people paid to do than annoy you at 9:00 at night on a holiday with a credit card offer for someone whose phone number you have because they moved to another city? Really! Can’t we pay them to plant trees or smile at people in front of small businesses or something? Any ideas out there?
Yes, I am well aware that it may be the only job… which is why I am asking how that came to be!! There has got to be a better way for people to make money. Nobody wants to be a telemarketer, and nobody wants to be called by them. I would boycott businesses who harass me with repeated calls. I would rather they hire someone for the same pay to go through business records and update them , for example, when customers move! Or to make the neighborhoods better by cleaning litter and painting park benches- these strategies woudl get much better feedback than telemarketing. I don’t get it?

Start your own business mowing lawns or cleaning. The latter, especially can be started with very few costs.

when they call I answer until I am with a person not a machine , then just play “Happy Happy Joy Joy” Till they hang up.

Im already on the do not call list but they still call me at least five times a day ,they claim to be an online pharmacy and sound like there calling from mexico!

It’s considered harrasment if a customers calls are charging you for communication and can be a cause to report a compnay to the Better Business Beureu. Simply tell them thath thier calls are costing you money on the cell phone and to call you at home. If they do not threaten to report to the Beter Business… and the Attorney General.
